Syllabus
Course Objectives:
By the end of this course, Techrangers will be able to:
- Identify and perform the basic Techranger duties.
- Identify the other teams in the unit and how the Techranger Team interacts
with each.
- Identify and comply with all (CDWS) office policies.
- Acquire access to the CDWS network and setup all necessary tools.
- Implement proper use of various software programs commonly used at CDWS.
- Identify best practices in web design.
- Create a hand-coded HTML document demonstrating correct use of HTML and
CSS.
- Create and maintain accessible HTML documents in compliance with Section
508.
- Identify the various ways CDWS utilizes GroupWise to facilitate communication,
scheduling, workflow and tech support and perform respective tasks.
- Create, customize, and update a Reach course and its components.
- Create, customize, and update a WebCT course and its components.
- Appropriately answer tech support calls and emails.
Course Outline:
This course is designed to train a new Techranger in performing the tasks
necessary for creating and maintaining on-line courses and web sites for the
university. The course is divided into modules with tutorials and hands-on
activities as follows:
- Getting Started
- Tech Support
- Web Design & Development
- Course Development
- Application Development
Assignments:
Each module has hands-on activities for you to demonstrate your newfound
knowledge. These activities may involve using a piece of software, creating
course content or completing a WebCT quiz. You must complete each activity
successfully before your trainer will sign off on that section. In addition,
you will be required to create a web-based Portfolio.
Evaluation:
This is a pass-pass course. Your trainer will review each activity you complete.
If you have errors, your trainer will point these out and help you correct
them. Once you complete the activity successfully, your trainer will sign off
on that section. Your trainer must sign off on all sections before you can begin working as a Techranger.
