Course Expectations
My expectations for you are simple and conventional. They
are as follows:
- To begin, I expect you to behave and comport yourself as you would for any academic offering. This includes, but is not limited to completing
all course requirements and assignments.
- I expect you to treat all communications (both in-class and on-line) professionally and respectfully. Please treat others with courtesy and politeness. We can, and will, differ on many topics, but let us be civil about it.
- I expect you to write using conventional rules of grammar, spelling, and paragraph formation. You may wish to compose your messages in a word processor first, then copy and paste to your e-mailer before posting to the discussion board.
- I expect you to progress in a timely manner through the course. Modules will be posted on a regular
basis. You are permitted to work at your own pace, but do not get too far
ahead. I reserve the right to change any upcoming module before it is
assigned. Thus, working too far ahead may lead to you doing work that
you must do over when the module is changed. I also expect you to respond to all assignments in a timely fashion as well, by adhereing to all due dates.
- If you post an assignment or discussion by "attaching" it to your posting, I expect you to double check and make sure it is attached correctly and can be read by your classmates. You have not turned in an assignment or discussion posting unless it has been attached correctly. If you turn in an assignment or discussion posting that has not been attached correctly and the due date for that assignment or discussion posting passes before you correct the error, you will not be able to turn in that assignment or post that discussion.
- I expect you to check your e-mail, the main discussion board, and the relevant weekly discussion boards several times a week. Only by doing this can you fully participate in the course, and keep up-to-date on any announcements.
- I expect you to be patient. This is a new medium and there will be difficulties. However, we will manage them as they appear and the course will proceed. The University has experience in this method of instruction, and we will be able to overcome most problems with your cooperation and a bit of patience.
- I expect you to do your own work and to stand by the work you do.
- I expect you to engage in risk management. This includes regularly backing
up your work, and checking for viruses. Anyone sending an assignment to me
with a virus will receive a 25% reduction in the grade for that assignment.
What You Can Expect From Me:
- You can expect from me everything I expect from you. In addition, you can expect the best effort I can lend to this experience to make it a success.
