Course Description:

This course will introduce you to the basic concepts and methods of descriptive and applied epidemiology. While increasing your awareness of the various methods for data retrieval and research application, you will also learn how to make managerial decisions based on epidemiological data.

Overall Learning Objectives:

At the successful completion of this course, the competent student will be able to:

  1. Describe the basic concepts, constructs and principles of epidemiology.
  2. Identify the types and methods involved in epidemiological studies.
  3. Present key processes in developing, conducting, and evaluating epidemiologic investigations.
  4. Apply epidemiological principles to health services administration and health promotion activities.
  5. Process epidemiological data to make managerial decisions.
