Starting Premiere
Now that you have set the settings, you should be ready to start capturing video. Make sure the camera is on (If you're using the Sony Digital Camera, flip the power-switch to VTR). You should see a screen like Figure 14.
Figure 14

Step One
The first step requires you to open a window called "Movie Capture". Open "File" and move the cursor down to "Capture". To the right of "Capture", you will see more options. Move the cursor and click onto "Movie Capture" (See Figure 15). When you click on this button, a new window will appear asking to deactivate AppleTalk. Go ahead and deactivate AppleTalk. Another window will appear called "Movie Capture".

Step Two
You should see a new window called "Movie Capture". This window will let you see the video you are trying to capture. Make sure the video camera is on at this point. You should watch the video first to make sure which video you want to capture. You want to capture as little video as possible because capturing too much video will take up a lot of memory.
When you start capturing video, play the video you want to record on the camcorder and press record on the "Movie Capture" window. When you want to stop recording the video, just click on the mouse to stop the capture. After you stop the capture, make sure to stop the camcorder also. Figure 16 shows the "Movie Capture" window.

Step Three
When you're done capturing the video, a new window will appear with the recording (Figure 17). Go back to the "Movie Capture" window and close that window. Now go back to the new window. Notice that there are now video tools in this window. You can watch the video in this window. If you don't like the capture, just simply delete the clip. Redo the clip until it is to your liking.

When you're done with video, save the video into "Scratch Disk". "Scratch Disk" is where most of the raw video will be saved in. You can create a new folder in order to have better organization.
Step Four
Once the files are saved, you have to move the video to the project window. The "Project" window is located on the top left corner of the screen. Look at Figure18 to see what the window looks like.

Step Five
Notice in Figure 19 there are two screens in the "Monitor" window. Now that there is a project in the "Project" window, you can drag the project in the window into the left monitor in the "Monitor" window. Grab the video in the left screen and drag it into the right screen. Notice that both screens will now have the same picture.
