Roll Lead Ups
Back Rocker (Rock & Roll)
The method to lead to the success of rolls is to use the back rocker lead ups and add one component at a time of the roll to standing position in preparation for forward and backward rolls. When performing the back rocker for the backward roll, add the hand placement each time as the body rocks back.
Purpose: add one component at a time of the roll to standing position in preparation for forward and backward rolls.
Seated Tuck, Back Rocker, Seated Tuck or Squat
- Begin in seated tuck grasping knees
- Perform a back rocker
- Return to finish in seated tuck or squat
Seated Tuck, Back Rocker to Tuck Stand
- Begin in seated tuck grasping knees
- Perform back rocker
- Return to finish in a tuck stand with the arms lifted up overhead
- Try not to put hands down on mat but lift up with arms
Seated Tuck, Back Rocker, Squat, Stand
- Begin in seated tuck with arms overhead
- Perform a back rocker, rocking further back into inverted tuck
- Then roll up through tuck stand
- Then to standing straight body with the arms lifted up overhead
Sequence: Sitting Tuck, Back Rocker to Inverted Tuck, Rock Forward, Tuck Stand, Finish in a Stand
