- Handstand, Forward Roll
Each skill should first be taught on an incline mat, then perform on the floor. When first learning the forward roll the easier finishes such as supine and seated should be utilized. The gymnasts may progress to more difficult finishes when they are able.
The emphasis when first learning is:
- to bring the chin to the chest which rounds the spine
- use the hands to support the body
- make contact with the back of the head (not the top) on the floor
to roll progressively through the spine
