Brief Course Description

You can become a published author while you're still in school! This course will focus on the basics of nonfiction magazine feature writing, including leads, structure, voice, research, and audience analysis. Our primary focus will be on improving your writing abilities, but we will also address ways to market your writing. If you enroll in this class, you will complete at least two different nonfiction articles and submit them for publication.

Texts

Various magazines and magazine articles are required. You must be prepared to purchase individual magazines and magazine articles (from online archives) throughout the semester. Also, when you submit articles for publication, you will need to pay postage. The cost of these items will vary depending on which magazines you select, but most students will spend $60 or less. More details are available inside the course website.
