Pioneering the ICT Way

~ Jan Wibe ~

 
       
 

Jan Wibe is a master of mathematics from University of Oslo, Norway in 1966.

He has been involved with computers in Education since 1970.

             
 

He has worked in upper secondary education (mathematics and science) and university (informatics). He has also worked in the Ministry of Education in a project introducing computers in schools.

He is currently working at The Norwegian University of Science and Technology, Trondheim (NTNU) as project manager in ICT.

Jan Wibe has been chair of IFIP WG 3.6 (Distance Education) and is now chair of TC 3 (Education). He was PC-chair of WCC 2002 and has been chair or member of several TC 3 conferences.

Work related to CPAW:

He has been a member of CPAW since 1989.

World Conference on Computers in Education (WCCE 1990) was arranged in Sydney in July 1990. In connection with this conference, a project was set up in spring 1990. The theme of the project was: The local and global Environment – our common concern.

Schoolchildren collected local data about acid rain. The collected data was presented during WCCE 1990. A videoconference was also set up with schoolchildren from Trondheim, Norway and children from a local school in Sydney. As far as we know this was the first videoconfernce between Norway and Australia.

He has also participated in a number of CPAW conferences with presentations.
