Singapore International Friendship Day

(Project Completed)
Theme:  "Singapore wants to be friends with all countries which want to be friends with us"
Dates:  August 15 - Sept 4, 1998
Coordinator:  Doreen Cheong
E-mail:  "Cheong" <Cynthia_Goh@MOE.gov.sg>
School:  Westlake Secondary School, Singapore

Hello,
I am Doreen Cheong, a secondary school Geography teacher from Singapore. The school I teach in is Westlake Secondary School and the pupils I teach range in age from 13 to 16.

All Singapore schools will be commemorating International Freindship Day on Sept 4 this year. The theme is "Singapore wants to be friends with all countries which want to be friends with us".

To commemorate this day, one of the activities my school will be planning is to help our pupils make contact with friends from all over the world via the Internet. It will also be a valuable Geography lesson for my pupils when they make friends and learn from children from all over the world.

I am therefore requesting that members help me make this contact for my pupils by inviting your pupils to send messages of friendship to my school.

1. The messages should contain greetings of friendship
2. Your pupils should identify themselves so that my pupils can send return messages
3. The address that your pupils should send the messages to is:
Cynthia_Goh@MOE.gov.sg  (This is my school Principal's mailing address.)
4. It would be appreciated if the messages can arrive at the school
before 31 August.
5. Should there be any queries, please direct them to Mrs Doreen Cheong (that's me, the co-ordinator of the programme) at the above address.
