E-mail Protocols:

During this class, e-mail will be used for public communication between yourself, group members and the instructor, as well as virtual office hours. You should check your e-mail at least three times a week for class FYI's. I will check my e-mail postings in the morning, Monday through Friday. Response time is within 24 hours. Use Standard English and check for spelling, punctuation and mechanics.
Check the General Class Forum or syllabus for answers to your query before asking me a general question about the course.
Sign all of your e-mail using your real name.
State your business in the SUBJECT line.
Breakup large blocks of text.

CL1 Room Protocols:

Any intentional or malicious destruction, as well as, theft of classroom property will result your immediate expulsion from this class. Food and Drinks are prohibited. Review Rule 6C7-4.037 for official rules and regulations regarding use of this space. Visit http://pegasus.cc.ucf.edu/rule.html.

Discussion Protocols:

When posting to the class Discussion Topics on the WebCT, follow these rules. Inappropriate postings will be deleted by the instructor and the individual student reprimanded.

Post to the correct topic.
Be clear and concise.
Avoid I agree type of posts: elaborate on your reaction.
Do not use all caps.
Use Standard English: check spelling, punctuation and mechanics.
Break large blocks of text into paragraphs.
Be diplomatic, courteous and respectful of others.
Use the REPLY button rather than the COMPOSE button if you are replying to someone else's post.

Technology Protocols:

If you have hardware or software problems that prohibit you from turning in your work on time, please contact me immediately. Next, contact the appropriate on-campus help-desk. Always back up your files on diskette or Zip Disks whether you are at home or at the computer lab. As an English teacher, my area of expertise is writing.

Visitor Protocols:

You can expect a variety of unannounced visitors during the semester. Please be as kind and courteous as possible. The UCF community is just as excited as you are about the new classroom building.
