NATIONAL/STATE ORGANIZATIONS

American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA)
Membership organization comprised of speech/language pathologists and audiologists that provides information and referrals to the public on speech, language. cp, communication, and hearing disorders

Children and Adults with Attention Deficit Disorder (CH.A.D.D.)
Through family support and advocacy, public and professional education and encouragement of scientific research, CH.A.D.D. works to ensure that those with ADD reach their inherent potential. Local chapters hold regular meetings providing support and information.

Council for Exceptional Children (CEC)
Membership organization that has 17 specialized divisions including the Division of Learning Disabilities which is dedicated to the field of learning disabilities. CEC conducts an annual conference, publishes a newsletter and magazines.

Developmental Delay Registry (DDR)
National non-profit membership organization providing information and networking opportunities to parents and professionals working with children who have developmental delays

Federation of Families for Children's Mental Health
Provides information, support, and referrals through federation chapters throughout the country. Focuses on the needs of children with broad mental health problems.

International Dyslexia Association (formerly The Orton Dyslexia Society)
The Association has 42 branches across the country which offer informational meetings and support groups. Referrals are made for persons seeking resources, in addition, the Association publishes journals and publications regarding dyslexia.

Learning Disabilities Association of America (LDA)
National non-profit membership organization, with state and local chapters, that conducts an annual conference and offers information and various publications.

National ADD Association (ADDA)
National non-profit organization focusing on adult ADD issues.

National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC)
National membership organization that focuses on children from birth to age eight. Sponsors an annual conference, publishes a bi-monthly journal, and has a catalog of books, brochures, videos, and posters.

National Association of School Psychologists (NASP)
National membership organization dedicated to promoting educationally and psychologically healthy environments for all children and youth by implementing research-based, effective programs that prevent problems, enhance independence, and promote optimal learning. National conference, newsletter, publications.

National Center for Learning Disabilities (NCLD)
NCLD seeks to raise public awareness and understanding, furnish national information and referrals, and arrange educational programs and legislative advocacy. NCLD provides educational tools to heighten understanding of learning disabilities, including the annual publications called "Their World," quarterly newsletters, informative articles, specific state-by-state resource listings and informative videos regarding learning disabilities.

National Organization for Rare Disorders, Inc. (NORD)Maintains a confidential patient networking program, the goal of which is to stimulate the exchange of information and mutual support among individuals and families who are affected by the same rare disorder.
