Principal Investigator Mary E. Little, Ph. D. is an Associate Professor at the University of Central Florida in the Child, Family, and Community Science Department, teaching and advising graduate and undergraduate students in the program area of exceptional education. For the last four years, she has also served as the Principal Investigator of the "Effective Instructional Practices project" (Project CENTRAL), a statewide professional development project funded through the Bureau of Exceptional Education and Student Services (BEESS) at the Florida Department of Education. This innovative project researches scientifically-based instructional practices, provides quality professional development in curriculum, instruction, and assessment, and disseminates this information statewide and nationally. Her research interests include quality implementation of research-based instructional practices through action research and teacher efficacy and retention. Project Coordinator DAnn Rawlinson is a graduate of the University of Central Florida with a Masters Degree in Varying Exceptionalities and a Bachelors of Science Degree in Communicative Disorders. Her teaching experience includes working with students with speech and language impairments, specific learning disabilities, and ESOL at the elementary, middle, and high school level. Her professional interests include reading education, professional development, and teacher empowerment.
Project Coordinator Kay has a Master’s Degree in Education from Florida Atlantic University and a Bachelor’s Degree in Exceptional Student Education with additional certification in Specific Learning Disabilities from Florida Atlantic University. She is a certified professional developer in the Strategic Instruction Model from the University of Kansas Center for Research on Learning. She is a co-developer of Algebraic Thinking and is a professional developer in this new and exciting product from Project CENTRAL through the Bureau of Exceptional Education and Student Services (BEESS) at the Florida Department of Education. Her classroom experience is at the secondary level in both Florida and Massachusetts.

Christina Castellanos: Christina is pursing a Dual Master’s at UCF in Counseling. She also has a bachelor’s in Psychology from Florida International University. She plans on working both in a school setting and one day opening her private practice. She hopes to obtain a certificate in play therapy as well as in career counseling. Kelly Secunda Kelly Secunda is a graduate of the University of Central Florida with a Liberal Studies B.A. in Marketing, Fine Art, and Sociology. She will be starting the Master of Arts Degree program in Elementary Education with a professional certificate in Play Therapy at UCF in Spring 2006. Her future goals also include pursuing work with kindergarten students, communication disorder research, art education, and eventually teaching English in Asia. Kristina Secunda Kristina Secunda is a graduate of the University of Central Florida with a Liberal Studies B.A. in English Literature, Communications, and Sociology. She is completing her Master of Arts Degree in English Language Arts Education, Community College Teaching Track with a professional certificate in Community College Education at UCF in Spring 2006. Her future goals also include studying in New Zealand, a doctorate in English Literature with a specialization in Contemporary American Poetry, and eventually tenure as an English Professor. Marcey Kinney Marcey Kinney received her bachelor’s degree in varying exceptionalities, with a focus on emotional handicaps form the University of Central Florida in 2000. She completed her Masters degree from UCF in 2003, also in varying exceptionalities. She is currently working on earning a PHD in exceptional education. Her research interests include Reading, Autism, and Communication disorders. Her teaching experience includes 4 years at the high school level teaching English and Reading in an inclusive setting and one year at the elementary level teaching students with mild to moderate disabilities. Rocie Tafur: Rocie Tafur is originally from Venezuela and grew up in Colombia. She has her bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from URBE located in Maracaibo, Venezuela. Most of her experience is in the administrative area. One of her big goals is to become fluent in the English language and learn more about the Educational field. A future goal includes starting to study for a Master’s degree in Public Administration. Rocie has been with Project CENTRAL for one year. Sharonda A. Elliott Sharonda is pursuing a Master of Public Administration graduate degree and a graduate certificate in nonprofit management at the University of Central Florida. Sharonda plans after completion of the MPA program to pursue a career in the field of non-profit organization management. Wendy Greenidge Wendy Greenidge is originally from the Caribbean island of St.Lucia. She completed a B.Sc. in Psychology and Human Resource Management at the University of the West Indies, and in August 2003, graduated from the University of Central Florida with a Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology. She is currently pursuing doctoral studies in Counselor Education at UCF. In the Caribbean she has done extensive work with high-school students and in Florida has worked with a wide range of substance abuse and mental health populations.
