Coordinating Existing Networks To Reach ALL Learners

Focus:This comprehensive, statewide project is designed
to identify and disseminate information about resources, training, and research
related to current and emerging effective instructional practices. The ultimate
goals are to provide appropriate training, products, resources that provide
benefits and quality outcomes for all students in Florida, including students
with disabilities.
Project
Outcomes: Project CENTRAL is supported through a grant awarded to the
University of Central Florida by the Florida Department of Education.
Specific outcomes for this state-supported grant include:
To collaboratively PLAN professional development, activities, and products to meet specific objectives as evidenced from multiple sources of needs assessment data from the FDOE and Project CENTRAL for overall project and each instructional practice. (PLAN)
To coordinate a comprehensive DELIVERY of identified, research-based professional development by cadres of highly knowledgeable professional developers regionally and statewide, in collaboration with other FDOE Bureaus, educational service agencies, FCRR, and national researchers, as appropriate. (DO)
To coordinate comprehensive FOLLOW-UP of identified, research-based professional development by cadres of highly knowledgeable professional developers regionally and statewide, in collaboration with other FDOE Bureaus, educational service agencies, FCRR, and national researchers, as appropriate, to assure high quality implementation and student data collection using multiple strategies (e.g., instructional coaching, on-line support, study groups, etc.). (DO AND CHECK).
To coordinate and comprehensively EVALUATE STUDENT LEARNING by participants through classroom student data collection using multiple strategies (e.g., action research, informal assessments (e.g., Cool tools, etc.), etc.) as a result of high quality implementation of identified, research-based professional development. (CHECK AND ACT).
To disseminate and represent the Florida Department of Education, Bureau of Exceptional Education and Student Services, and the Effective Instructional Practices project in multiple national, regional, and state venues (products, resources, articles, presentations, etc.). (DO)
Current Training Provided to Date: Action Research, Algebra Success Keys (ASK),
BIG Accommodation Model for Middle Schools, CBM/DIBELS, Improving Student Achievement through Collaboration (ISAC), JJ GREAT, Parallel Curriculum Model (PCM), Phonological Awareness, and Strategic Instruction Model (SIM).
On-going Training: Action Research: Master Professional Developer Series; Algebra Success Keys (ASK): Master Professional Developer Series; DIBELS Facilitator Training; Improving Student Achievement through Collaboration: demonstration sites; Juvenile Justice Group Reading Endorsement Assistance Training (JJ GREAT): Special Project; Parallel Curriculum Model; and Strategic Instruction Model: Train the Trainer.
