The following steps and tips for answering tests questions were developed by the RegionIII Area Center for Educaitonal Enhancement (College of Education, University of Central Florida, Presenter: Dr. Gail Choice) for the FCAT questions but the are very appropriate for the FTCE as well.

Steps and Tips for Answering FCAT Questions

In order to answer FCAT [FTCE] questions successfully, you need to establish a routine. Study the following steps and tips. Use them every time you practice answering FCAT [FTCE] questions. The procedures will then come naturally when you take the FCAT [FTCE].

Steps for answering multiple Choice Questions

  1. Think Positively. Tell yourself, "I can do it!" Relax.
  2. Read the question carefully. At this point, only read the question, not the answers.
  3. Circle the main idea and undeline the most important parts of the question.
  4. Think of the right answer.
  5. Look at the choices to see if your answer is listed.
  6. If your answer is there, mark your answer.
